MEL HILMI

Mel Hilmi is the ideal collaborator with the technical expertise of a recording engineer, producer and mixer, the creativity of a songwriter, and the versatility of a professional voice artist. She is known as a veteran singer/songwriter, a solo artist as well as front-woman for highly-regarded alt-folk group The Belleregards. Hilmi has honed her craft as a vocal performer, easily transitioning into the voiceover and commercial world, thanks to her co-operative nature, ‘egoless’ approach to the work, and consistency in the vocal booth.

Her expressive, pitch-perfect and malleable voice in combination with her diverse songwriting skills have been used for national brands such as Nestle, McDonald’s, BOTE Paddle Boards, Rowing Canada and on the end credits of the US television show The Hero Effect.

Individual and co-written materials have been licensed to the Showcase Network television series Lost Girl, Lost and Found Music Studios/The Next Step (Family Channel) and Space Channel’s Dark Matter.

An honours graduate of the Audio Production program from The Harris Institute and an innate desire to be innovative, Hilmi has always been hands-on with music production. For a decade and a half, she has built a reputation for vocal and compositional excellence. Her ‘can do’ spirit and genuine desire to do what is best for the project ensures work is delivered on time, on budget and always to the highest standard. When she’s not behind a mic, she can be found down on the farm with her kids and animals.
